Personal: Why Do I Blog?
The other day Shane tagged me in his post, communicate your vision, to join in on the “meme†posts. I’m not quite sure who I’m going to tag at the end of this post, but I’m sure I’ll think of some names by then.
Why Do I Blog?
When I first started blogging, I’ll admit it, I did it try to make a quick buck. I quickly found out why you hear people say that someone who joins an industry to make a quick buck never lasts. I had my blog up for about a month and started to realize how hard it was to gain a solid reader base and a constant flow of traffic. In the future, my intentions are to make money, but for greater reasons. I mentioned in my post the other day about a time for self reflection that I wanted to create revenue from this blog to ultimately help pay for other things I want to do in life. Such as buying an acoustic guitar, buying a surfboard, and buying an SLR camera. I want to eventually put this blog to good use, not for greed and wealth. I want my blog to help enable me to follow more of my goals and interests.
I also blog because I enjoy doing it. I never realized that I would enjoy writing about things I’m interested in and later publishing it on a website of mine to share with the world. When I write a blog post I don’t even realize the time. Just the other day when I was writing about the importance of research, it took me over an hour to write it and proof it. When I finally published it I looked at the clock and was amazed that time had flown by and which only seemed like a few minutes. I look at passion as something you do and nothing else matters when you’re doing it. For me, when I’m “blogging,†time doesn’t matter, my surroundings don’t matter, studying for an exam that’s in 2 hours…doesn’t matter. I’ve definitely learned how to express myself in ways that I never would have in real life. Blogging has helped me mature and become a more well rounded person.
Blogging is also interesting to me because I’ve got to meet a lot of great people of taking up this hobby. I’ve also learned a lot about the blogsphere as well as the topics I’ve posted about. Some of the topics that I talk about I end up researching and finding more information about. I think that it helps me understand the subject matter even better as well as connect with it on a personal level. By researching the subject I’m also broadening my knowledge base and learning more about other topics, cultures, and many other things. And lastly, blogging is fun.
My Chooses For the Meme
Unfortunately I haven’t really kept up with who’s done the meme posts and who hasn’t. I’m going to have to be the party pooper and not tag anyone. Sorry! If you haven’t done the meme post on why you blog, send me an email or post a comment to this post and I’ll tag you.

I like how your reasons for blogging have changed and that it’s a mutual thing between you and blogging … you’ve changed the reasons you blog, and blogging has changed you a bit. Pretty cool.
Yeah, I figured that I’d use a new hobby, that I enjoy doing, and try to make money with it to start other hobbies
I’ve mad .33 cents so far! Definitely on my way to purchasing that acoustic guitar for summer aha
I’ve learned that writing helps me to organize my thoughts. When you write, you end up more fully developing an idea (I want to write about the benefits of blogging at some point and organizing my thoughts is one of them) as well as seeing any big gaping holes in logic!
I like Shane’s comment! Blogging changes you and then your writing changes as a response.
Based on what I’ve read here, you are thoughtful and feel things deeply. I believe that because you are honest about yourself and with your readers you can’t help but become more mature. I’ve noticed that as I’ve created connections with others, I’ve gained a greater appreciation of the world around me along with more compassion for others.
I do believe that like attracts like. You will attract good people and things into your life. You’ll get that acoustic guitar.
With respect to memes, I’ve been tagged for 2 of these memes (and is it pronounced Meemes long “E” or Meehms?) and the rules seems to be tag-at-will. I was tagged for the same meme twice so it’s obvious no one checks. I tagged who I was curious about.
Thanks for the response Ms.Q, as aslways it’s very much appreciated!
I hadn’t heard of this memes or meemes until I was tagged. I wasn’t really sure what was going on other than that you post about why you blog. And yes, hopefully I’ll get my guitar…someday.
